This is something you should look for in your practitioner. Without this, you cannot be sure of the service you are getting. There are many practitioners not registered, offering a very low cost treatment. BEWARE, they CANNOT get insurance for one thing. For another you cannot be sure of their qualifications, nor the standard of safety and professionalism demanded by the Australian government. There is anecdotal evidence of, for example, a taxi driver from an Asian country that just “took up” acupuncture, when he got here. Others still reusing needles. With today's disposable needles not only is this not needed but possibly quite dangerous if proper sterilization techniques are not used. Bottom line – check that your practitioner is registered. Ask about their qualifications.
Heather and Rod are also members of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA) & the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) respectively. This allows for health rebates to be offered.
